Here are my 4 Commitments to you:
On These four Principles, together we will get things done.
To keep Brampton Affordable here is my Plan:
1) Protect your tax Dollar , cut waste at city hall, Find efficiencies
2) No property tax increase above the annual inflation rate
3) Smart Parking Solutions - Increase the free on street parking from 3 hours to 5 hours, Allow overnight parking on some streets – End the no parking between 2AM and 6AM policy
4) Give $50,000.00 to young people towards home purchase in a equity share program.
5) Spend smarter before asking residents for more and Affordable recreation
1) Design our streets with safety in mind. – traffic calming measures, better signage. Every child must be able to play and walk to school safely
2) Partnership with residents for safer communities. – Revitalize Strong Neighbourhood watch programs. Organize, host training, create WhatsApp or email networks, get neighbours to know and look out for each other.
3) Youth Engagement. Develop partnership between youth and bylaw officers, youth and police, leadership training, friendship through sports.
4) Support Community Leaders Through Community Safety Forums
5) Better Environmental design. Better lighting on streets and parks, trimmed shrubs, visible public spaces
1) Form 6 recognized Community / Citizens Associations in Heartlake, Snelgrove, Mount Pleasant, Fletchers Meadows, Huttonville and Churchville. They will work with me as councillor to make our city better; identify local proprieties, discuss development proposals, raise traffic or other concerns, provide feedback on budget, recommend community improvements
2) Youth Advisory Council and a Senior Advisory Council
3) Monthly Leadership Meetings . I will meet with the executive of these Associations on a monthly basis to among other things provide progress updates, upcoming projects, city issues, community concerns.
4) Quarterly Town Halls – City Hall will come to the community, I am open to face to face conversations so we can understand each other.
5) Annual “State of the Wards” Meeting . This is my annual report card as councillor, projects completed, budget update, votes taken, future priorities, your question, concerns and feedback.
6) 48 Hours Standard response to residents. You will not be ignored by me.
7) Bring City Hall to You – Community Officers, I will regularly meet you at the libraries, Community Centers, Coffee shops, hold drop in and talk sessions, no appointments needed.
How do we reduce the pressures that contribute to family breakdown?
1. Support families with practical resources and family wellness events. For example, by-annual events focused on – Healthy relationships, parenting, financial stress, mental wellness, conflict resolution, digital safety for children, caring for aging parents, raising teenagers, building resilience, bullying prevention.
2. Address Affordability with Family Financial Literacy – Work with industry to bring you workshops on budgeting, debt management, understanding credit, home ownership , avoiding financial scams.
3. Parks for People – improve parks, trails, playgrounds and sporting facilities. better playgrounds, walking trails, more outdoor fitness equipment, public washrooms, better lighting through solar energy
4. Recreation for All Residents – Advocate for Soccer Center # 2, More outdoor basketball court with lights, Bike trails on the old CN rail lines, track and field facilities , another outdoor pool in our wards , support for youth and senior sports.
5. Create opportunities for neighbours to connect through community events.
6. Champion a clean city. Build on the work of community groups like People Against Litter to keep out surroundings clean.
7. Champion youth leadership and volunteerism
8. Welcoming and safe public space for families
